James Bond Gay?

A gay James Bond? Naw… I don’t think it would work. Apparently Daniel Craig (My new pick for the best James Bond ever) has been suggesting that perhaps some gay characters and some full frontal male nudity should be in the works for upcoming Bond films. Cinematical says this:

Here’s the Craig quote currently floating around the internet: “Why not? I think in this day and age, fans would have accepted it. I mean, look at (British TV series) Doctor Who – that has had gay scenes in it and no one blinks an eye.”

Now please notice that Craig didn’t really come out and suggest that JAMES BOND be gay, but it does have some people talking. I have a couple of thoughts on this:

1) Calm down people, Daniel Craig is just an actor. He does not write the film nor does he have any authority over the film. These are decisions that will be made by the studio, the director and the writers… not the actor playing the role.

2) Yes, the Bond world should be modernized a bit and include gay characters IF (and that’s a really big if) the story actually calls for one and it benefits the movie.

3) Bond himself should not be gay. That would be modernizing the movie just for the sake of modernizing it, and it also directly effects one of the key elements of the character. Leave him be.

Just my two cents worth… what do you guys think?
