Eragon Does Great Internationally But Fails TO Find Domestic Audience

Eragon has become the #1 film internationally knocking Casino Royale out of top spot taking in over $30 million in it’s opening weekend. Solid numbers. So the studio exec are all really happy right? Right? Well… maybe

Despite it’s strong opening in international markets, Eragon failed to meet it’s expectations here at home (North America) only coming in second in it’s opening weekend with just over $23 million. When I say it failed to meet its expectations, I mean their initial expectations. I know for a fact they were looking at a $50+ opening weekend for this film when it was in production… but that number came WAY down when polling the publics reactions to the trailer and anticipation for the film.

Still, this movie will make it’s money back… too bad it was such a bad film.
