Justin Long isn’t a Mac

I have to say I just cant get enough of Justin Long. He was geeky/cool in GalaxyQuest. Hell, I even liked him in Herbie. The guy just has that quality that everyone sees a little of themselves in. He even made Macintosh look hip. But not for Long! (see what I did there… ? )

Wired Reports

A rep for Long confirms that his days as an Apple pitchman are over: “Every ad you see Justin in is for that previous time period only,” she tells Radar. “There’s no long-term deal with him.” She adds (somewhat implausibly, perhaps), “Justin’s a movie star, not a commercial guy.”

I am glad to see that he is stepping it up. I had thought he was going to turn into another “April ONeil” appearing in Turtles and then disappearing into an impressive stretch of TV commercials.

As my friend Sam says,“I say the commercial needs some intimidating stars to reflect the intimidating arguments pro-Mac and pro-PC people are always flinging at each other in heated OS wars. Let’s have Alan Rickman to play the Mac, Christopher Walken to play the PC, and let ’em scare the bejesus out of everybody. Then let users pick the lesser of two evils…”

Speculation says the likeable funny John Hodgman (the PC) might become the new Mac.
