Sylvester Stallone To Quit Acting

Stallone-retireSylvester Stallone will never be on “Inside the Actors Studio” (unless he already has and I just made myself look like a moron… which happens from time to time so I won’t be surprised) or be remembered as one of the great thespians of our time. But there is no denying (for those of us who are children of the 80’s) that he has brought us some of this generations most iconic characters.

Sadly though, almost every other acting attempt by Stallone away from those iconic characters (Rocky and Rambo) have pretty much been total failures (aside from his role in Cop Land which I thought he was actually pretty damn good in). And that fact doesn’t seem to be lost on Stallone any longer. Looks like after the new Rambo film, Stallone is retiring from acting. The good folks at Digital Spy give us this:

According to Breaking News the Rocky star said, “After I make this I see my future as a director. I’ve been displeased with my last few films, as well as some in the past.” Sylvester Stallone, 60, has the embarrassing accolade of being the actor with the most Golden Raspberry Awards – a prize recognizing bad movies and poor acting.

So what do you think? Is this the end of the line for Stallone as an actor? If so… then I think it’s a good idea for a couple of reasons:

1) He can’t really act all that well. I know it sucks to say that… but come on… it’s true

2) It allows him to focus on writing and directing which he’s already shown he has some decent talent in.

3) It would be TOTALLY fantastic for him to end his acting career with the two role that defined him. A new Rocky movie and the new Rambo flick. Really… what else is there for him to do? What other franchise would be better for him to end his career on? I submit there is none.
