Jim Carrey is not having an easy time with work these days. A Little Game Without Consequences, the new film he was supposed to be in has been halted and he, Cameron Diaz ad the Director have all left. The good folks over at yahoonews.com give us this:
Both Carrey and Diaz have exited the comedy-drama “A Little Game Without Consequence,” which was set to begin production this month in New York. The movie’s director, Gabriele Muccino, also has departed the Focus Features project, due to “substantive creative differences,”. The script was said to have gone in a different direction than the actors expected when they became involved. The film revolves around a picture-perfect couple who fake a breakup, only to discover that their friends never thought their union was a good idea in the first place. Several sources said the trio wanted to keep the project’s dark tone, while Focus wanted to make a more commercial movie.
Carrey has had a difficult year. “Used Guys,” a movie he was to have starred in with Ben Stiller for 20th Century Fox, was shut down because of escalating costs. Then Paramount Pictures’ “Ripley’s Believe It or Not!” was put on hold — sources attributed that change to either costs or script problems. One insider said Paramount was close to hiring a new writer to revive the project. With “Game,” it appears that Carrey is leaving because of creative disagreements.
Jim Carrey had better stop breaking mirrors, this is getting ridiculous. Three movies in one year all shut down or completely revamped, wow, this calls for a witch doctor, or a Pilates instructor or something.
I liked the way this new movie sounded, thought Carrey would have been good in it. But reading that the producers wanted to make it a light Hollywood style flick makes me think that Carrey and Diaz made the right decision by leaving.
With any job you have good days and bad days. For most of the morning I have been thinking poor Jim, what bad luck.
Ha! Bad luck my foot. When you consider the fact that he has hilarious, sexy former playmate Jennie McCarthy as a girlfriend, more than enough money for the rest of his life, some extra free time and a less high profile so he can actually walk around, the dude is about as unlucky as a rabbit’s foot.
