Topher Grace is a mystery to me. All I have ever really known him as is Foreman on “That 70’s Show”. In that he played the likable everyday guy who was a bit dorky, but still cool, a bit hopeless but still got the girl. But its all I have ever known him as on screen. I have NO idea how he will play as the “smooth guy” or in next summer’s instant Blockbuster Spiderman 3 as toughguy Eddie Brock.
[Greg] Coolidge is in the middle of pre-production on a comedy called Coxblocker. As he did for Employee of the Month, he’ll write and direct again.
The subject, as you might have guessed, is cock blocking. Except the MPAA doesn’t take kindly to the word “cock” so they threw an “x” into the title instead of a “ck” and suddenly everyone’s happy. Topher will play the conveniently named William Cox, a guy with women trouble until he meets the girl of his dreams. One problem though, her ex-boyfriend (Seann William Scott) is also her best friend. She’s over him, but he’s not over her, and hilarity ensues when he works behind the scenes to get her back by blocking Topher from hooking up. And by hooking up I mean having crazy, wild, heterosexual sex
For those not in the know, Cock Blocking is the art of interfering in a guy’s efforts to get a date with a girl. Now THIS role I can see Topher Grace in. He always seemed to be the victim of bad circumstances and we loved him for this.
And Seann William Scott as the jerk trying to screw someone over for his own benefit? Yeah, I can see that too.
I can’t say much about the movie, but it seems they found the right guys to play these parts.
