Turkish Star Wars gets a Sequel

In 1982, some Turkish film makers decided that no copyright was safe from the grasp of their Space Epic. It has become the stuff that legends are made of.

Film Junk points out:

Turkish Star Wars is the nickname for a movie called Dünyayı Kurtaran Adam (The Man Who Saves The World), which was released in Turkey in 1982, and used bootleg footage ripped directly from Star Wars.

And now, some 24 years later, they are about to release a sequel! Dunyayi Kurtaran Adamin Oglu (The Son of the Man Who Saves The World) doesn’t re-use any Star Wars footage (as far as I know), but it looks just as ridiculous as the original sounds.

I had heard about this movie, and it blatantly rips off Star Wars and even uses soundtrack bits from Indiana Jones.

Its apparently cheezey as all hell, but its the ONLY thing I have heard of to come out of Turkey in cinema. No offense to the Turkish people, but I know very little if anything at all about Turkey, except that someone there made this film in the early 80s.

The sequel features scenes that show some more of their disregard for intellectual properties including a “Lightsaber fight”. No word yet as to wether or not there will be any Star Wars footage or soundtrack listings.
