Tim Burton and Johny Depp on Sweeney Todd

Burton-Depp-Sweeny-ToddI swear Tim Burton and Johnny Depp would get separation anxiety if the two weren’t in the same room together for more than 5 minutes. Word is now out that the two are going to be working together… again. The good folks over at AICN gives us this:

Burton will be directing this cry-baby crooner, Johnny Depp, to a new killer musical. The film is being set up for a 2007 Holiday release. No word if Danny Elfman is going to be adapting Sondheim’s musical with Burton – or if they’ll just use Stephen. I have to say – I can’t imagine Burton doing a non-Elfman involved musical… but, SWEENEY TODD is such an exquisite musical as is… it’s hard to imagine any radical reworking.

I’m not a Burton fan. I loved his Charlie and the Chocolate Factory rendition… but other than that he doesn’t impress me. (Yes yes I know… All the “cool” film geeks say they love Tim Burton and that I’m out of touch if I don’t. I can live with that).
