Jackie Chan wants to leave Action

Jackie Chan has announced that he wants to branch out into different things. This might be a poor career movie for the action star. He does action like no one else can, and even he admits that he considers himself a myth considering how he has outlived the average lifespan of an action star.

USA Today says:

“I want to put myself to the test by interpreting and acting different characters,” he said. “I would like people in (the) future to see my movies and consider me an actor who can act in action movies, not just someone who knows about martial arts and happens to be an actor.”

Now for Jackie, this might be a bad thing. Maybe he caught wind of VanDamme doing drama and figured “Hell, if VanDamme can do it, why not me???”

Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy Jackie’s movies as much as anyone and in the glimpses of his personality we get to see in the blooper reels (another Jackie movie staple) you can see he is a likeable genuine guy. But can he act?

I dont know that this is a question anyone has asked themselves when getting into a Jackie Chan movie. We all know that he can do action, that his personality comes through in the characters he plays, and the stunts he does just makes the jaw drop or at least bring a smile. Sometimes I wonder how he does some of the things he does.

He has also said:

When people come up to me in the street in America they say ‘Ah, Jackie Chan!’ and do all the action moves,” he said. “No one does that to Robert De Niro.”

Well sorry Jackie, I dont know that you are ever going to hear that.

Maybe he is just tired of his co-stars punching him in the head. The guy has more injuries on the job than a professional wrestler.
