Pan’s Labyrinth Gets a Standing Ovation In Toronto

Last week I got to talk to Mike Mignola, the creator of Hellboy who also worked on the Hellboy movie with Guillermo del Toro. Mike said that Pan’s Labyrinth is at least “twice as good as anything Guillermo has ever done before”. That’s saying a lot. And apparently audiences are agreeing with him.

The good folks over at Cinematical give us this:

Guillermo del Toro’s much-anticipated dark fable, Pan’s Labyrinth, was very well received by an afternoon audience at the Toronto International Film Festival today. The film, which played at the historic Elgin Theater to a packed house, garnered a lengthy standing ovation, amid shouts of “Bravo!”, “Encore!”, and “Viva Guillermo!”

Every person I’ve talked to who has actually seen Pan’s Labyrinth just raves about it. Good to know! The rest of us in North America will have to wait until the end of the year to see it. Pan’s Labyrinth gets released on December 29th. I’ll be there.
