Tom Cruise Apologizes to Brooke Shields

It looks like the Tom Cruise camp is is full “damage control” mode right now. Not only are there whispers of him doing a comedy with Aptow (which would do wonders for his image in my opinion), but now there is word that he has personally apologized to Brooke Sheilds for his unprovoked attacks on her last year.

The folks at Yahoo give us this:

The 41-year-old actress says Cruise apologized in person Thursday. “He came over to my house, and he gave me a heartfelt apology,” Shields said Friday during an appearance on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.” “And he apologized for bringing me into the whole thing and for everything that happened.

“And through it all, I was so impressed with how heartfelt it was. And I didn’t feel at any time that I had to defend myself, nor did I feel that he was trying to convince me of anything other than the fact that he was deeply sorry. And I accepted it.”

Look, I will rip a guy when I think he’s acted like a jack ass (like Cruise frequently has over the last while), but I will also give credit where credit is due. This was a smart, and classy move on Cruise’s part. We can all debate what his motivations are for doing the right thing… but none of us can Judge that for certain, so I’ll just give the man credit for doing it.

Why do I get the feeling the guy has different handlers now?
