Images From Blue Sky’s Robots

robots.jpgWhile I’m not convinced their story department or character designers are as good as the ones over at Pixar – the number of abandoned pieces of animation on the Ice Age DVD is a pretty good indication they didn’t quite have it all together – there’s no doubt that Blue Sky Studio’s technical skills are right up there with the best in the business. Don’t get me wrong – I like Ice Age a fair bit but there are a few weaknesses here and there that keep it from being a classic piece of animation. What I’m hoping is that they learned enough from that experience to really knock it out of the park with their next feature and early reports are looking good.

I’d heard a while ago that Blue Sky’s second feature would be titled Robots – and why on earth is this the first robot themed CGI film? – but hadn’t heard anything else about it until I spotted this article on AICN. Check out the list of voice talent: Ewan McGregor, Jim Broadbent, Mel Brooks, Halle Berry, Stanley Tucci, Dan Hedaya, and Paul Giamotti. Now THAT is a voice cast. To make it even better, check out these stills. Sweet! Very distinctive, very high end stuff. This should be great …
