Dune is just one of those classic novels that all sci-fi readers just LOVE to carry on about. Personally, despite my insane geek status to which Doug, (who plays Magic The Gathering Collectable Card Game) must bow down to, I publicly state now, that I have never read this book and to watch the attempted miniseries. Yes mortals. I have a flaw.
However, I am not so flawed as to be waiting for the movie like some slacker in an 80s teen film. They have found a director in Peter Berg (Smokin Aces), so it looks like I am now on a timetable.
The Herbert estate is eyeing to do the new film version of the classic – some say unfilmable – science-fiction series; last done as a poorly-received mini series. They go on to say Paramount is likely to give the film a home.
I don’t know why, but this classic seems to have slipped through the cracks of my already mighty powers of geek.
More importantly, I can’t seem to read a book AFTER I have seen the movie from which it was sprung. So I should get that all out of the way before they make this puppy.
