The new Kevin Smith Comedy “Zack and Miri Make A Porno” has been the subject of a lot of casting speculation over the last couple of months. Smith’s first major post-Askiew universe comedy has all the markings of a Smith flick just in the title alone. They have finally announced the lead cast… and in my opinion they’re GREAT choices.
Seth Rogen and Elizabeth Banks will play the leads. FANTASTIC. Variety gives us this:
Story revolves around two lifelong platonic friends who are deep in debt and enlist the help of their friends to make a porn pic for some quick cash. But Zack and Miri realize that they may have more feelings for each other than they previously thought.
Rogan is a rising star, although some people (like TMB’s own Doug Nagy) haven’t bought into him as a leading man yet. A fantastic supporting player no doubt… but as good as Knocked Up was, some people didn’t quite buy Rogan in the lead part. This film could to a lot to either establish that he can carry a comedy… or confirm what others thought when they suggested he’s better suited for the supporting parts.
There just isn’t enough good things I can about Elizabeth Banks. She’s one of the sexiest women in Hollywood right now (how smoking hot was she in 40 Year Old Virgin?), but she’s also got the ability to really carry a role like she did in Slither. I’ll see anything this girl is in, and putting her in a movie with the word “PORNO” in the title just makes me smile.
