Let’s talk about the return of Hercules

It doesn’t feel like it’s been very long since Game of Thrones’ Jason Momoa attempted to revive the Conan character for film so it’s a little jarring to see Dwayne Johnson take on a role that seems a little similar. In addition to taking on a role that audiences may not be attracted to, the film is directed by Brett (X-Men 3) Ratner. Don’t get me wrong, I like Ratner. Kinda. As a person the guy seems pretty top notch and actually has a decent sense of humor… it’s just when he strays away from humor that I’m concerned. Let’s check out this trailer…

Not bad. Not great. A little generic but that’s not always a bad thing for summer films. There’s glimpses of humor in there but the site of Johnson in the role just feels off. It’s flashy looking, but I’m apprehensive. I think Johnson needs to stick to contemporary films like Fast and Furious as well as maybe another Journey film. Ratner needs to figure out how to get another movie outta Eddie Murphy that had that much loved adult humor he showed in Tower Heist.

I think my biggest issue with the whole thing is the hair. Ya see, I have a rule about the Rock and his films that I follow:

Never watch a Long-Haired Rock film. They suck. Short to Bald Rock is Badass. Long Haired Rock just has an eye catching hairline/wig malfunction.

Hate to say it but I have low expectations for this film.

That’s all for now.
