Wow…this news just proves that they will make a sequel to anything. It turns out that a sequel to the 90’s Sci-Fi horror flick, ‘Screamers’ will start filming this January in Canada. Peter Weller (a.k.a “RoboCop”) is set to return as Colonel Hendricksson and the film will also be directed by Sheldon Wilson. (The man behind the abysmal ‘Kaw’)
MovieHole gives us these details:
“Screamers 2” fixes on a group of humans from earth, including Lt. Victoria Bronte, who arrive on Sirius 6-B to investigate an SOS signal sent out from the planet, which has been supposedly deserted since the destruction of the man-made weapons known as “screamers.”
Once the squad arrives, they find a group of human survivors eking out an existence in an old military outpost, but more important, they discover that the threat of the screamers has become even more insidious, now that they’re able to morph into human form.
Really? Really? Do we need a sequel to this movie? I honestly don’t remember much about this movie. I remember Robocop, the dopey dude always on rollerblades from ‘Caroline in the City,’ and killer machines that made the Phantasm ball look wimpy.
Although, Peter Weller is kick-ass, his presence alone won’t make me pick this sequel up when it hits the bottom shelf on the DVD rack next year.
However, there are quite a few of you that could be excited about this news. So what are your thoughts? Are you excited to see another ‘Screamers?’
