In the coming weeks there will be floods of critic association and various other bodies awards announcements for the best of 2007. But each year one of the most influential ones is the LA Film Critics. This year they’ve given their top prize to the new daniel Day Lewis film “There Will Be Blood” by calling it the best film of the year.
I’ve been dying to see this flick and I’ll finally get my first shot at it on Wednesday night (look for my review on Thursday). So having not seeing it yet, I can’t really comment on their choice other than to say it makes me even more excited to see it this week.
It’s still very early to call, but it looks like the two front runners for the Oscar this year may be There Will be Blood and No Country For Old Men. Personally, I’d give it to Transformers (kidding).
I am very much looking forward to putting together The Movie Blog’s best films of the year list late next week. Maybe we’ll call it “The Movie Bloggies”. Ouch… that’s a lame name.
