Long Live the high school comedy! I am glad to announce that Superbad defeated the piece of shit known as Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End at rental outlets for the week ending Dec. 9th. We get the stats and the news from the hallowed halls of The Hollywood Reporter via comingsoon:
Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment’s Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End turned out the biggest sales performance of the three sequels that stormed the box office during the summer, says The Hollywood Reporter.
On Home Media Magazine’s rental chart for the week ending Dec. 9, Superbad came in at No. 1 with estimated rental earnings of $14 million. “At World’s End” debuted at No. 2 with $9.5 million, while the previous week’s top renter, Fox’s Live Free or Die Hard, slipped to No. 3 with $8.4 million.
I am glad Superbad won the battle, we will stay tuned to see who wins the war. I am honestly surprised that so many people would want to see Pirates: 3 a second time. I thought that the film was a big bucket of waste, sharks wouldn’t eat it as chum. I suppose it just goes to show you that even with gobs of money and a bankable super talent like Johnny Depp – a movie still has the ability to suck rotten ostrich eggs.
Superbad is a film I will be picking up on rental this week. I have yet to see it and almost everyone I know has told me that I must. I listen and obey. I am a fan of high school movies and always look forward to a good one. Clowning around with your buddies and dealing with a strict vice principal is something we have all have went through, and can laugh about together. I am wondering if this film has “Fasttimes At Ridgemount High” staying power, I guess I will see this weekend.
