Thanks to a new Wall Street Journal interview, we now know the new Blade Runner movie will infact be a sequel and Scott has confirmed that work is “quite a long way in, actually… I think im close to finding a writer that might be able to help me deliver”.
the truth is Scott isn’t really delivering a sequel, in reality it sounds like the project will be a new tale just set in the same universe and with a new crew. Scott confirms that the new project will be without “the past cast, of course”, and when asked if Deckard will be exempt for that ruling, he said – “No, not really”.
What this exactly means? who knows. Sounds like he’s going more of the Prometheus route in that it’s set in the same universe but features a new cast but… the guy doesn’t even have a writer! He does state that the movie is a lot further in production that people may realize. What does that mean? still not sure. How far can get without a writer?
He’s confident that the movie will be made and judging by his statements it implies that it will be sooner rather than later. Still a lot of hope that he picks this up after Prometheus.
