In the category of “not afraid of a challenge” Katherine Heigl’s movie 27 Dresses has changed its release date.
Change of plans for all you lingering Grey’s Anatomy fans. Katherine Heigl’s next movie, 27 Dresses, will not be opening two weekends from now. Fox has just announced that they’re pushing its release back from January 11th to January 18th.
I have to agree that this is somewhat of a puzzling move for this movie.
On that same weekend, the Uwe Boll film (In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale) and a pretty bad Tracy Morgan movie. But instead I guess they figured they didn’t want success handed to them as they felt it was a bolder move to move it back a weekend so that it was up against the insanely publicized Cloverfield.
I’d think this was a strategic move since Cloverfield is marketed to a different crowd than 27 Dresses, but there is another ensemble cast chick flick that weekend hoping to scoop up the “other” demographic that weekend.
On a weak release date, this would have been a prime weekend for a chick flick. Especially with Heigl’s popularity (despite her misconstrued comments about Knocked Up) and the eager Grey’s Anatomy fans just itching for a taste.
For myself, this is the only chick flick of the year that has any of my attention. Mostly because after Knocked Up I have become a bit of a Heigl fan myself. I could watch that girl recite the alphabet and it would be hot. But that is just me.
Well I likely will be seeing Cloverfield that weekend so the tasty Kay-High will have to wait.
