Andrew Garfield, Vince Vaughn, Sam Worthington, Luke Bracey, Teresa Palmer, and Rachel Griffiths are all cast in this upcoming directorial effort from Mel Gibson. Controversy aside, I find that I thoroughly enjoy Mel Gibson movies. Braveheart, The Passion of the Christ, and Apocalypto are all stellar films this new movie seems to be right up Gibson’s alley.
Check out the synopsis:
Captain Glover (Worthington) is in charge of the unit, while Vaughn plays Sergeant Howell, whose job is to get the new recruits ready for battle. Bracey is Smitty Ryker, the alpha of the platoon that Doss belongs to. As an army medic, Doss single-handedly evacuated the wounded near enemy lines, braved fire while tending to soldiers and was wounded by a grenade and hit by snipers. He was the first conscientious objector to ever win the Congressional Medal of Honor.
Sounds like a slam dunk for Gibson, but the question is whether or not this movie will get any traction. I, personally, had fun with Gibson’s last starring role Get the Gringo but the stench of controversy surrounding Gibson forced that movie out of a theatrical release and straight to VOD.
What do you think? Are you interested in Mel Gibson’s name gracing the silver screen?
Inquiring minds would like to know.
