The new Tarzan trailer is out and you have to see it for yourself before I can even give you my thoughts. I’ll wait.

It has been years since the man once known as Tarzan (Alexander Skarsgård) left the jungles of Africa behind for a gentrified life as John Clayton III, Lord Greystoke, with his beloved wife, Jane (Margot Robbie) at his side. Now, he has been invited back to the Congo to serve as a trade emissary of Parliament, unaware that he is a pawn in a deadly convergence of greed and revenge, masterminded by the Belgian, Captain Leon Rom (Christoph Waltz). But those behind the murderous plot have no idea what they are about to unleash.
Do you see what I mean? It’s got a much bigger scale to this film than someone would associate with a Tarzan. Let’s begin with the fact that this movie is a lot darker than I expected. 2nd – this movie is really reminding me of Planet of the Apes except one of them shed fur, wears pants, and yodels. 3rd – What the hell is up with the animal army? I don’t get it so I don’t know how to feel. Should I be excited for the ‘Epic Tarzan’? I expected an interesting film about life after the Jungle for Tarzan but hadn’t imagined that it wouldn’t be an intimate film about a boy raised by Gorilla’s who obsesses over Jane. I don’t know how to feel yet. I wan t to say good things because I was a fan of those Harry Potter movies and want to see David Yates make something great but I’m indifferent because… it’s just unexpected.
Aside from the identity crisis I have to admit that the movie does look pretty good. Christoph Waltz and Samuel L. Jackson look great and the CGI looks pretty friggin amazing and I can’t wait to see how the 3D works. I like the idea of the story investigating life after the jungle for Tarzan rather than retreading the tale everyone is familiar with. It’s a refreshing trend to see Hollywood still provide a ‘sequel’ but it still seem new and unique. I definitely want to see more so I can make up my mind on this one so they do have my interest and it’s making the radar.
What say you?
