The Host 2 Will Be A Prequel

Host-2A really fun little monster movie (which I fully enjoyed, but thought it was a little too over-hyped and over-praised by some) which lots of you guys still haven’t seen yet is “The Host“. Yes it’s subtitled (which I still can’t understand why it’s a problem for some people), but it’s also loads of fun. There have been whispers about a possible sequel, and it looks like those whispers have been confirmed. The Host 2 is coming our way… and it’s going to be a prequel.

The good folks over at ComingSoon give us this:

The Host 2 intend on not only stirring up steaming-fresh political controversy…but heightening the mutated threat as well. According to Sci-Fi Japan, a press release from Chungeorahm Film states the next chapter will be a prequel (confirming last month’s suspicions), written by Kang Full, and “multiple monsters” will crop up. Along with the release came a concept sketch by Full depicting a fork lift driver holding one of the creatures at bay (see below).

I’ve become less and less of a fan of prequels over the years. For the most part (there are exceptions) all they do is rehash previously done stuff, or muddle with the continuity of the existing work. It says to me “We want to do another one… but can’t think of any possible way to move forward. So we’ll just move backwards”.

Still, prequel or not, I’ll be looking forward to seeing this.
