It looks like we have confirmation on the rumors that have been circling about Iron Man making a guest appearance in the Hulk. William Hurt spills the beans in an interview provided by out friends at MTV Movies Blog:
William Hurt is a consummate actor and a closet (until now) comic book geek. Both of which explain his excitement in revealing a bit about one surprise scene he shot for this summer’s “The Incredible Hulk.” “I have a scene with Iron Man, with Robert Downey Jr.,” the Oscar-winning actor told MTV News Friday at the Sundance Film Festival. “It’s a funky scene.”
For those who haven’t heard the news, superhero house Marvel Comics is aggressively cross-pollinating its superheroes, most likely in preparation for an eventual “Avengers” movie. That means Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury will make a cameo appearance in May 2’s “Iron Man,” and ol’ metalhead himself will drop into “Hulk.” Little has been said about the scene — until now.
Well, we knew that this was going to happen – but it is nice to have validation. I have said before that I am all for guest appearances in super-hero films. I love when they do crossovers in comic books and I think that films that adopt this tried and true tradition will be welcomed eagerly by fans. Each super-hero has their own story, but it is nice to see them talking shop on occasion with other professionals in the field.
My hopes are high for Iron Man and The Hulk. If these two films can knock it out of the park, an Avengers movie should be a shoe in. I hope that the same level of awesome that is being pumped into these two films, is also pumped into Thor. The Mighty Thor is the hero film I am waiting to see, and I remain am very skeptical about it. Jack Kirby and Walt Simonson are the only authors to pen Thor that I have enjoyed. I hope beyond all hope that those crafting this film have a solid vision for the character and draw inspiration from these two men. The God of Thunder demands excellence and Loki needs to be thwarted! KRAKKKATHOOOOOOOOM!
