Kadson has scored the lead in the biopic about the life of artist Magaret Kane, we get the scoop today from the professionals at variety:
Kate Hudson is set to star in “Big Eyes,” the independently financed film about painter Margaret Keane. Production is tentatively slated for June, depending on the prospects for the resolution of a new SAG contract.
Hudson will play Keane, the painter whose distinctive creations featuring big-eyed children became one of art’s first mass-market success stories in the 1950s. The drama covers Keane’s personal awakening at the onset of the feminist movement, leading to a lawsuit she filed against her husband, Walter, who claimed credit for her works.
I do not know much about the artist, so I used the googler and found some images. Her paintings are great, the eyes of her characters are oversized and her paintings have the same “feel” as orthodox religious icons. She seems to focus on paintings of children, which may be where she draws inspiration for the “big eyes”. Eyebals are always the same size and our head grows around them. When Kane paints adults with oversized eyes – it gives them a childlike look and she uses them to covey emotion very well.
Check the painting below as an example of her work.
