Pixar set to release Wall-E

Pixar is one of those studios that put out hit after hit. I scale their movies on a scale of “less good” as I havent seen a bad one yet. With this summer’s Ratatouille looking to weasle its way into your hearts, we get news that we might just see a sneak peek of what Pixar intends to put out after that.

Sort of looks like a combination of Number (Johnny) 5 from Short Circuit, one of the robots from *batteries not included, the Mars Exploration Rovers, and R.O.B. Keep in mind that a lot of robots tend to be derivative of others, so Wall•E’s design is probably paying tribute to his robot ancestors.

The film will be directed by Finding Nemo’s Andrew Stanton and is scheduled for a June 2008 release.

So with the relatively less popular Robots way back on the horizon, its safe for Pixar to trump the competition’s ideas and put out a better movie with robots in it. But will this be a world where the populace is made of robots, or will Wall-E be a robot designed in servitude to a human? I guess we will have to wait and see.
